Kobus is the Founder and CEO of Axis Group International.

Based in Dubai and Shanghai, he has been working in Asia for 25 years. Before founding Axis Group and The Beijing Axis, he was Head of Investment Strategy and Global Market Research for Asia Pacific for Standard Chartered Bank Plc. Prior to that, he was a Senior Strategy Consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Asia. In his early career, he was an Emerging Market Investment Strategist in London; a Treasury Economist with Standard Merchant Bank in  Johannesburg; and an Economist with the South African Reserve Bank in Pretoria.

He holds an MBA from INSEAD in France, a Master of Business (I.T.) from Curtin in Australia and BCom Honours degrees in Finance / Investments and Economics, respectively from UJ and Unisa in South Africa.

He is an adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business’ International Strategy Department,  teaching ‘Doing Business in China and Asia’. He is also a Fellow at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute for Business Science, in their Centre for Dynamic Markets.

Managing Director – Asia

Rachel is the Managing Director: Asia of Axis Group. She is responsible for global business development, all client solutions and overall P&L. She is also the BU Head of Procurement & Supply and she has an international team across Asia and Africa that supports her in driving the business forward. Her expertise is in global procurement / supply chain, transaction management, international business, complex negotiations, and strategic development. She has advised numerous international clients with their cross-border activities over the past 15 years.

Rachel has lived and worked in China, Australia, Singapore, the rest of Asia and Africa. She has travelled extensively over the past years and is currently based in Beijing and Shanghai. Prior to joining Axis Group, she worked in senior roles in global procurement, management consulting, supply chain and logistics. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business on international strategy – and has done public speaking in several countries.

Rachel holds an MBA from the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia and a BA degree in International Business and Trade from the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing. She is fluent in Mandarin and English.

Chantelle Visser CA (SA)

Financial Director

Chantelle is the Financial Director of Axis Group, and her responsibility currently is to manage and lead the finance, risk, commercial and legal side of the group.

She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both finance and commercial, having overseen finance departments for several years. Chantelle has worked for Imperial Logistics for 18 years. Chantelle previous experience includes holding the position of Commercial and Finance Executive of Managed Solutions Africa Regions as well as head of finance of other divisions within Imperial. Chantelle has a vast understanding of logistics and warehousing in Africa.

Chantelle, a Chartered Accountant, holds a BCompt Honours and Bcom Accounting Sciences degree from the University of South Africa.

Haiwei is a Director of Axis Group.  He is responsible for managing global procurement and supply projects, and strategic stakeholder and client engagements.

Haiwei has more than 20 years of international experience providing solutions to blue-chip South African, Chinese, and international clients across various industries, including mining, engineering services and selected agri-commodities. Prior to joining Axis Group, he worked for CHINT, a Shanghai Stock Exchange-listed, low-voltage product manufacturer, as an International Business Development Manager cultivating clients in Europe and the US. Prior to CHINT, he worked as a Sales Representative at Shanghai Huaqi Telecommunication Company.

Haiwei holds a BA Hons degree in Business Administration from the London South Bank University in the UK. He is also a graduate of the Imperial Executive Development Programme from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Business School in South Africa. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, as well as Shanghainese.

Barbie is the Head of Strategic Projects, Marketing & Communications and People & Culture at Axis Group. She is responsible for special projects and initiatives, brand and communication strategies, and managing global marketing campaigns. She has also been tasked to oversee the transformation of the company’s People & Culture function.

Barbie is a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of international experience spanning Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas. She has managed and executed numerous market access projects for clients in various industries including mining, engineering, construction, medical, FMCG, supply chain and hospitality. Prior to her current role, she was responsible for developing Axis Group’s Market Access Consumer business, accountable for global business development, client solutions, P/L, and operations. Prior to joining Axis Group, Barbie worked in various project management, research, account management, and marketing & events roles.

Barbie holds a BA degree (magna cum laude) in European Studies, International Relations, from the Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines). She is also a graduate of various programmes: the Imperial Executive Development Programme from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Business School (South Africa), Chinese Language and Culture at Beijing Normal University (China), and International Business at L’École Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (France). She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Filipino, and speaks basic French and Minnan.

Rudi Delport

Rudi Delport

General Manager: Market Access Consumer

Rudi is the General Manager for Axis Group’s Market Access Consumer business. He is responsible for overall business development of key accounts into the Chinese market as well as other global markets.

Rudi has lived in Asia for over 15 years and, prior to joining Axis Group, held several sales-related positions in this region. He worked as a Brand Ambassador for BioAstin in China before transitioning to a Marketing and Sales Consultant position for South African wineries. Rudi then went on to launch his own consulting company, One Square Meter Consulting, and served as its Director before joining Axis Group in 2019 as a Sales Manager.

Rudi has a BCom Honours degree in Development Economics from UNISA in South Africa, as well as a BCom in Economics from the University of Pretoria. He is fluent in Afrikaans and English and is also proficient in Mandarin.
