Role Overview
We are looking for a General Manager: People & Culture (China, Asia) for our growing international business. You will be an important part of an exciting journey. Responsible for the full spectrum of the HR landscape, you will work with our global teams to ensure a seamless and integrated employee experience. You will be expected to create an environment where People & Culture (P&C) is a strong business partner and enabler, and development, engagement, and accessibility are words that employees will naturally associate with P&C.
Responsibilities
- Develop People & Culture (P&C) strategy, solutions, and systems that aligns to the company’s business strategy and objectives, and oversee all policies, procedures and initiatives stemming from these
- Ensure appropriate, efficient & effective service delivery by partnering with business leaders, and taking accountability as the process owner for key P&C initiatives
- Build meaningful relationships, credibility, and trust at all levels within the organization with colleagues, respecting diversity and inclusion
- Develop and manage various HR functions that cover the entire employment life cycle, including recruitment, contract management, performance management, compensation & benefits, learning & development, career and succession planning, and promotion and separation
- Design and monitor programmes that will improve productivity, build organizational capacity (attracting and retaining the right talent), inculcate a performance culture throughout the company, whilst keeping employees informed, engaged, and motivated
- Provide innovative, informed, and pragmatic solutions to a variety of complex P&C issues taking into full account internal policies, best practices, and regulatory requirements
- Drive a culture of compliance by ensuring adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct, business ethics, and employment-related laws, predicated on the maintenance of up-to-date knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations, as well as best practices relating to employment
- Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required
- Anticipate and resolve litigation risks
- Manage the P&C budget with a view to optimize operational excellence and cost effectiveness
- Supervise and manage direct reports, maintain a positive and can-do P&C team
- Interpret HR data and provide analysis and insights that is relevant and meaningful to the company’s senior management i.e., reporting on key people metrics, planning, developing, and executing suitable solutions to address relevant insights / challenges
- Support organizational development / change management
- Identify and coordinate P&C improvement processes and digitalization of P&C systems
- Support and implement group P&C initiatives and new policies on various themes such as diversity and inclusion, succession planning, empowerment, performance management, and other strategic areas
Requirements
- Seasoned HR leader with a strong track record and at least 10 years’ experience, 3+ years as a strategic HR business partner to leadership team; supply chain / market access / trading industry experience preferred; robust recruitment experience an advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field; Master’s degree in Human Resources an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of relevant employment legislation and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of human resources management principles and keeps abreast of relevant best practices
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to use data and analytics to develop insights and influence decisions
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with experience building and managing a high-performance HR team
- Diligent and firm, with high ethical standards
- Extremely collaborative, persuasive, and empathetic, able to influence others with authenticity, and able to build strong networks internally and externally
- Good people management, detail-oriented and able to work under high pressure in a professional environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Mandarin)
- Experience working with and influencing multiple stakeholder groups within an international environment
