1. April – Ghana: The Chinese embassy in Ghana has provided aid to the Ghanaian government in the form of anti-epidemic supplies for Ghanaian children. Sanitizer, baby wipes, face masks and soap form part of the supplies, with the aim to help young children who are living in poverty and are susceptible to the threats posed by the pandemic.
2. April – Ethiopia: The third round of Jack Ma’s COVID-19 medical supplies for Africa arrived in Addis Ababa in April. The donation will be used to support African Union member states. The Donation included 4.6mn masks, 500,000 pairs of gloves, and other equipment such as ventilators, face shields and testing kits.
3. April – Uganda: Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Zheng Zhuqiang, handed over a donation of medical supplies to Ruth Aceng, Minister of Health for Uganda, in April. Surgical masks, protective goggles and surgical gloves formed part of the donation, with a second batch of supplies to be sent later this quarter.
4. April – South Africa: The South Africa-China Economic and Trade Association and Africa Oil and Power entered a new partnership in April, which will see the introduction of Chinese technology and finance to existing African Projects. The two entities will also collaborate at several energy events on the African continent later this year in Angola, South Africa and Senegal.
